Tomography of the Nucleon

In this talk I'll review how the most general information about the three dimensional structure of the nucleon can be obtained in terms of quark and gluon transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (TMDs) and generalized parton distributions (GPDs). I'll also discuss what observables can probe this structure and how the upcoming electron-ion collider (EIC) at Brookhaven National Lab, USA will play a major role in this quest.
