Abstract | : |
The equilibrium thermal physics of the Mott insulator and the Mott transition is reasonably well understood. There are also studies that probe the voltage bias driven metallisation of the T=0 Mott state. How do thermal effects interplay with a bias - well beyond the regime of linear response? I will describe a semiclassical Langevin dynamics scheme that explores the nonequilibrium steady state across the bias and/or temperature driven insulator-metal phase boundary. Our "real time" approach allows access to spectral properties and the current in this driven system. I will a suggest a qualitative explanation for the observed effects in terms of strong amplitude fluctuation of local moments in the driven thermal state. |
