Air:
Calcutta has an international airport, but few international
flights arrive at Calcutta directly. Usually one has to take a connecting
flight to Calcutta (Kolkata) after arriving at Delhi or Mumbai (Bombay)
airport from abroad. The airport is about 10 km away from the Saha Institute
and taxi services are regularly available at the Calcutta airport (take
pre-paid taxi if possible from the airport itself).
Train: Calcutta is well connected by train with all major cities of India. The train stations are in Howrah (on the opposite side of the river Ganga; about 12 km away) and Sealdah (about 6 km away).
