    Sukannya Bhattacharya has successfully defended her Ph.D. thesis entitled "Inflation Models in light of Cosmic Microwave Background Observations". The thesis was supervised by Prof. Koushik Dutta.

    Mugdha Sarkar has successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled "Lattice gauge theory with non-perturbative gauge-fixing". The thesis was supervised by Prof. Asit K. De.

    Prof. Gautam Bhattacharyya of our division has been appointed as the Acting Director of Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics with effect from 29th March 2019.

    Prof. Munshi Golam Mustafa is being named as a Fellow of National Academy of Sciences (FNASc) for his "pioneering contribution to the quantitative understanding of heavy quarks in Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) and also the thermodynamic properties of QGP using perturbative QCD". Congratulations!


    Prof.Ashoke Sen will be visiting theory division during 29th July to 6th August (2018) and will deliver a set of l
    ectures.

    Chitralekha Datta has successfully defended her Ph.D thesis entitled "Exact solutions of some quantum integrable systems associated with polarized spin reversal operators". Her thesis was supervised by Prof. Bireswar Basu-Mallick.

    Kumar Das has successfully defended his Ph.D thesis entitled "Aspects of Inflationary models in supergravity. His thesis was supervised by Prof. Koushik Dutta.

    "IV Saha Theory Workshop: Modern Aspects of String Theory” from19th to 23rd February, 2018.

    Aritra Bandyopadhyay has successfully defended his Ph.D thesis entitled "Non-perturbative study of spectral function and its application in Quark Gluon Plasma". His thesis was supervised by Prof. Munshi G. Mustafa

    Prof. Palash B Pal will superannuate on September 30, 2017. We organised (
    little early) a small ceremony for him. Find a few snaps here.

    Goutam Das has successfully defended his Ph.D thesis titled 
    "Precision QCD Study for Spin-2 Production at the Large Hadron Collider". His thesis was supervised by Prof. Prakash Mathews.

    Prof. Gautam Bhattacharyya has been awarded the prestigious J C Bose National Fellowship (DST-SERB) in 2017.


    On 20 Jan 2017, Mr. Arindam Mazumdar successfully defeneded his Ph.D 
    thesis titled "Effect of Preheating on Cosmic Microwave Background". His advisor was Prof. Palash Baran Pal, although he mostly worked on his own.

    We are deeply saddened by untimely demise of our colleague Prof. Anjan Kundu. A personal note published in Current Science. 

    60th Birthday of Prof. Harindranath was celebrated on 30th November, 2016. Check out some images of the day!

    Mr. Chowdhury Aminul Islam has successfully defeneded his Ph.D thesis titled "Study of hot and dense nuclear matter in effective QCD model". His thesis was supervised by Prof. Munshi Golam Mustafa. Congratulations Aminul!

    Our former student Dr. Parijat Dey is a recipient of  Best Thesis Award of SINP for last academic year. The award was given during 66th Foundation Day Celebration of SINP. Parijat did her Ph.D under the supervision of Prof. Shibaji Roy, and she is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.

    Dr. Rudranil  Basu has joined Theory Division as an Inspire Faculty. Welcome Rudranil!

    Saha Theory Workshop: Multi-loop and Multi-leg processes for precision physics at the LHC from Feb 23- 27, 2016.

    Theory Division will host Heavy Flavour Meeting from Feb 3-5, 2016.

    The book "Many-Body Physics, Topology and Geometry" written by Prof. Siddhartha Sen and Prof. Kumar Sankar Gupta (Theory Division) has been published recently by World Scientific.

    60th Birthday of Prof. Palash Baran Pal was celebrated on 29th September, 2015. Check out the details and some images of the day!

    Dipankar Das will be joining Valencia University, Spain as Research Associate. Dipankar worked with Prof. Gautam Bhattacharyya and his thesis is titled as "Implications Of The Higgs Discovery On Physics Beyond The Standard Model".

    Parijat Dey will be joining IISc,Bangalore as Research Associate. Parijat worked with  Prof.Shibaji Roy and her thesis is titled as "Applications of AdS/CFT to non-relativistic systems".

    Dr. Najmul Haque, a student of the Theory Division, SINP has received the prestigious Outstanding Student Award for his thesis entitled “
    Some Applications of Hard Thermal Loop Perturbation Theory in Quark Gluon Plasma” from the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai.

    Najmul Haque will be joining Kent State University, USA as a postdoc. Najmul worked with Prof.Munshi Golam Mustafa and his thesis is titled as "Some Applications of Hard Thermal Loop Perturbation Theory in Quark Gluon Plasma".

    Our research fellow Atanu Kumar and Somdeb Chakraborty joined faculty position in Chandernagore Government College and Maulana Azad College respectively.

    Prof. Anjan Kundu and Prof. Gautam Bhattacharyya of Theory Division have been elected as Fellows of the Indian Academy of Sciences for the year 2015.

    Saha Theory Workshop: Cosmology at the Interface (January 28th-30th, 2015)

    Satyajit Seth will be moving to  Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz,Germany for his postdoctoral job. He worked with Prof. Prakash Mathews,and his thesis is titled as "A Journey towards QCD Radiative Corrections in the SM and Beyond at the LHC".

    Postdoctoral Job in Cosmology and related areas is available in the Theory Division.

    The book "An Introductory Course of Particle Physics" written by Prof. Palash Baran Pal has been published recently by CRC Press.
The book "Symmetries and Symmetry Breaking in Field Theory" written by Prof. Parthasarathi Mitra has been published recently by CRC Press

Prof. Anjan Kundu has been selected as a fellow of Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi (2014) for pioneering on the theory of integrable systems already recognized in the literature by established models and equations in his name.

Prof. Munshi Golam Mustafa has been awarded with BangaBhushan by the Govt. of West Bengal.

Prof. Gautam Bhattacharyya has been elected as a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi (2013). The citation says "Prof. Bhattacharyya derived new constraints on several extensions of the standard model using data from the large electron positron collider at CERN His work has thrown new lights on supersymmetric theories and models with extra dimensions by requiring certain theoretical consistencies as well as compatibility with variety of experimental data."

Prof. Gautam Bhattacharyya has been elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI), Allahabad (2013) "for his profound and insightful contributions in the area of 'Beyond the Standard Model of Particle Physics', particularly for his contributions in Z-boson physics, Supersymmetry and Extra-dimensional Models".

Santanu Mondal will move to Evotvos Lorand University, Budapest as a postdoctoral fellow. Santanu did his Ph.D with Prof. Avaroth HArindranath.

Raktim Abir will move to Wayne State University, USA as a postdoctoral fellow. Raktim did his Ph.D with Prof. Munshi Golam Mustafa
